WHAT WE STAND FOR
EMPOWERING WOMEN: The place of the African woman and the African girl child is not the kitchen as some practices may have portrayed it to be.
African women in time past have shown great bravery and leadership even in battle and that norm continues today. Women such as:
- Queen Amanirenas, circa 40 B.C.
- Queen Nzinga Mbande (c. 1583-1663) ...
- Queen Nanny (c. 1685-c. ...
- The Dahomey Amazons (1600s-1890s) ...
- Yaa Asantewaa
Are just a few who have set the pace for today`s women to follow.
Women empowerment refers to the process of enabling women to gain control over their lives make informed decisions and exercise their rights and freedoms. It involves promoting gender equality, challenging patriarchal norms and stereotypes, creating opportunities for women to achieve their full potential.
Women empowerment encompasses various aspects but our organization focus on the following:

-
ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT.
Access to Education, skills development and economic opportunities to increase financial independence.
-
SOCIAL EMPOWERMENT
Challenging gender norms, promoting social inclusion and creating support network.
-
POLITICAL EMPOWERMENT:
Encouraging women’s participation in decision making processes, leadership positions and political representation. Studies show higher numbers of women in parliament generally contribute to stronger attention to women's issues. Women's political participation is a fundamental prerequisite for gender equality and genuine democracy. It facilitates women's direct engagement in public decision-making and is a means of ensuring better accountability to women.
Political accountability to women begins with increasing the number of women in decision-making positions, but it cannot stop there. What is required are gender-sensitive governance reforms that will make all elected officials more effective at promoting gender equality in public policy and ensuring their implementation. And that is the reason for our WOMEN FOR LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCE CAMPAIGN. -
PSYCHOLOGICAL EMPOWERMENT:
- Building self-esteem, confidence and a sense of self worth.
- Promoting gender equality and challenging gender based discrimination.
- Enhancing women’s health, education and well-being and increasing women’s participation in the workforce and economy.
- Strengthening democracy and leadership.
- Breaking cycles of poverty and violence.
Empowering women benefits not only individuals but also families, communities and societies as a whole..
